Waterloo Bridge

A ballet dancer who falls in love with a British officer during the first world war. They plan to wed, but the officer is called to the front, and after a newspaper reports his death. Forced out of ballet school, alone and destitute, she turns to prostitution. When she discovers he is not dead, she is unable to tell him about her professional life, and tragedy ensues.
