Shining Mountains

Stretching from Yellowstone to the Yukon, the Rocky Mountains command the North American landscape. Their craggy territories are shared by both striking wildlife and the humans who traverse them for sport. In the wake of increased tourism and relentless urban sprawl, some fear that humans will love these mountains to death.

Produced for History Television and National Geographic, Shining Mountains follows the trailblazers, natives, artists and others whose lives have been influenced by the majesty of the Rocky Mountains and provides a fascinating look at the variety of animal species whose imprints have become synonymous with North America. In this 4-part series, filmmaker Guy Clarkson sets out to celebrate this wilderness and remind us of its fragile condition, in a journey through a landscape of timeless and awe-inspiring beauty.
