Cited as a personal favorite by Quentin Tarantino, this legendary martial arts film match up pits the famed One-Armed Boxer (Hong Kong superstar Jimmy Wang Yu) in a one-on-one battle to the death with a blind assassin (veteran character actor Kam Kang), and his lethal Flying Guillotine.

The year is 1730, during the early part of the Ching Dynasty when ethnic Chinese Hans have formed bands of rebels to fight their Manchurian oppressors. One of the most feared of the Han revolutionaries is the One-Armed Boxer, a stoic kung fu master who has already disposed of two would-be assassins. But now their master - the formidable blind "monk" Fung Sheng Wu Chi - has sworn revenge, refusing to rest until he snatches the Boxer´s head with the tethered decapitation device known as the flying Guillotine.

Arguably the most famous Hong Kong martial arts film of the post-Bruce Lee, pre-Jackie Chan period, this independently-produced classic brought together two icons with which Hong Kong audiences of the mid-70s were well familiar - Wang Yu´s One-Armed Boxer and the fearsome Flying Guillotine. Thirty years later, the film is more popular than ever, citing by fans, filmmakers and scholars for its iconic, mythical narrative and the unprecedented inventiveness of its tight choreography by "Drunken Master II" director Lau Kar Leung.

Now fully restored in its original language and presented for the first time in anamorphic video, "Master of the Flying Guillotine" is prepared to fly higher than ever before.
