Laughing Matters...The Men
Six of the best gay stand-up comics are featured in this hysterical film that weaves interviews with live comic performances. The comedians share insights into their humor and what has led them to the stage.
Bruce Vilanch is a comic legend who has written jokes for 16 Oscar broadcasts, starred for two years as Edna Turnblad in the Broadway musical "Hairspray" and winner of a handful of Emmys. He’s got his trademark beard grown back and he’s here to make us laugh. Alec Mapa, the film’s "Gaysian" appears currently on "Desperate Housewives" and was a series regular on the CBS sitcom "Some of My Best Friends" where he was network TV’s first gay Asian character (perhaps still the only one!) Bob Smith, one of the original "Funny Gay Males," has appeared on many TV shows, published two collections of humorous essays and his first novel "Selfish and Perverse" will be published this September. Andre Kelley boasts that he’s the only black comic to never have appeared on B.E.T. He has appeared on many other networks and opened shows for Margaret Cho and many other comics. Eddy Sarfaty tours the country tirelessly with his comedy act and has appeared on "The Tonight Show" as well as on "Nightline". Scott Kennedy, a native Texan, also tours the country, co-founded Gay Comedy Jam, which toured to more than 150 US cities and is a favorite on XM radio. With all these funny men, we’re sure you’ll walk away smiling.
