In the provocative Intimacy, what starts out as a weekly anonymous tryst between a divorced man (Mark Rylance, Bridge of Spies) and a married woman (Kerry Fox, Shallow Grave) turns into a searing portrait of loneliness and emotional need. With brilliantly fearless performances from Rylance and Fox, Intimacy reveals what is left bare after the clothes come off. Adapted from Hanif Kureishi’s controversial novel and short stories, and directed with delicacy and eroticism by Patrice Chéreau (Queen Margot), Intimacy won the Golden Bear for Best Film at the 2001 Berlin Film Festival, where Kerry Fox also won the Best Actress Award.
