Haunted History - Washington, D.C.
The city famed for its skeletons in the closet can also claim distinction for its spirits from the past.
It is a city where the past is in evidence everywhere, from the legislative buildings where our nations fate has been decided to the grand memorials to some of Americas greatest leaders. But there are some who claim that the past is present in more occult ways as well.
HAUNTED HISTORY ventures to Washington D.C. to investigate the tales of the deceased denizens of the capital who seem unwilling to leave. Perhaps the most famous--and persistent--of such stories is that the spirit of Abraham Lincoln can still be seen at the White House. Another former President, Ulysses S. Grant, is rumored to haunt an area near the Willard Hotel. Historians, scholars and paranormals examine these stories as well as numerous other accounts of military heroes, First Ladies and famous politicians whose spirits are said to still reside in the city.
It is a city where everybody is afraid of the discovery of skeletons in the closet. Perhaps they should be more concerned about the spirits of the dead!
