Rudy Ray Moore began his film career in 1974 as the star and producer of Dolemite, financed with profits from his best-selling comedy records. Dolemite, a famous nightclub entertainer, joins forces with Queen Bee (Lady Reed) and All-Girl Army of Kung Fu Killers to take on mobsters Willie Green and the mysterious Mr. Big. With its combinations of martial arts action sequences, over-the-top sex scenes and Rudy Ray's special brand of "blue" humor, Dolemite became an enormous underground hit in 1975. This led to the sequel The Human Tornado (1976), reuniting Dolemite with Queen Bee and her girls. Petey Wheatstraw: The Devil's Son-In-Law (1977) was based on an old African American legend of a man who makes a deal with the Devil in exchange for great power. Featuring a cast of Rudy Ray's colleagues from his nightclub days, including Jimmy Lynch and Wildman Steve, along with a bevy of special effects, this proved to be the most ambitious film of Moore's career. Disco Godfather (1979) (a.k.a., The Avenging Disco Godfather) tells the story of a cop-turned-DJ who is called back into action to take down an angel dust ring. Rude (1983) is Rudy Ray's first-ever live concert film, and features his longtime opening act, Leroy and Skillet.
