For many, Civil War battlefields are sacred grounds, bearing witness to violent struggles and the deaths of more than 600,000 soldiers. For others, they are not only hallowed, but haunted - with the sounds, images, and emotions of a war that has never ended.

Hosted by Bill Kurtis, Civil War Ghosts focuses on paranormal and spiritual activities at three legendary Civil War sites: Gettyburg’s Farnsworth House, allegedly inhabited by ghostly Confederate sharpshooters; Mississippi’s McRaven House, a field hospital during the Battle of Vicksburg now thought to house phantom soldiers; and Tennessee’s Chickamauga battlefield, where one historian claims to have encountered the legendary spirit "Old Green Eyes".

Vividly reanimating the history and legacy of some of the most decisive - and bloody - battles of the Civil War, The Unexplained investigates the abiding power of war on the human spirit.
