Borrowed Hero
Fearless Hero or Mobster´s Pawn?
Roger Andrews, a struggling young attorney, apprehends one of the most dangerous gunmen in the country and becomes a national hero in the blink of an eye. His newfound celebrity status is a boon to his career in law when he is promoted to the job of Special Prosecutor in a case against a vicious crime syndicate. Roger´s girlfriend Ann, a feisty newspaper reporter, fears for his safety knowing the criminal organization´s history of violence and murder. What they don´t realize is that Roger´s appointment was masterminded by a corrupt District Attorney who´s hoping to use the naive lawyer to ensure the release of one of the gang´s most dangerous criminals. But Roger, and those who break the law, soon discover one should never underestimate the power and determination of a genuine hero.
Excitement and romance run wild in this intriguing story from the era´s premier budget studio. Monogram Pictures. Borrowed Hero was also a great vehicle for the acting talents of Florence Rice, an under-rated actress of the period. The Cleveland-born performer began her ten year film career with MGM, often co-starring with actor Robert Young (The Longest Night, Sworn Enemy) and she gained further attention for her appearance in the Marx Brothers´ At The Circus. Her last picture, The Ghost And The Guest, marked the actress´s departure from film to work on radio and TV. Borrowed Hero was directed by Lewis D. Collins, who churned out a huge list of B-westerns, action dramas and adventures, including The Longhorn, Fargo, and his final picture Two Guns And A Badge.
